MTB Trail Center Kočevje
MTB Trail Center is located just outside Kočevje, in Dolga vas, and is a must visit spot for mountain biking enthusiasts. There are 11 trails of various levels of difficulty, which together extend to nearly 20 kilometers:
- dirt line, with an easier and more difficult directions:
This line consists of two lines, an easier one with “tables” and a harder one with “gaps”. Both lines consist of 7 consecutive jumps. If you want to learn to jump, you have to conquer the dirt line first. The line is located at the foot of the center.
- skill park:
Once you upgrade your basic mountain biking skills, you can head to the “Skill Park” - skills range that is located above the terrace. It consists of balance elements, "drops" and other parts for polishing your technique.
- pumptrack:
A small but popular paved pump track greets you as you enter the trail center. "Pumping" on it is the basic movement of a cyclist on trails. The versatility of the polygon provides a fun but safe sports experience for cyclists of all ages. Kick scooters and skateboarders are also welcome.
- pro jump line:
a line with 8-10 m jumps with "gaps" intended for the best riders who are skilled at jumping. Descending the line requires a lot of skill and courage.
- climb trail Friderick:
Length: 3.000 m
Elevation: 250 m
Difficulty: moderate
Climb trail Frederick was named after Frederick II, the Count of Celje, who built the Friedrichstein Castle on the top of the hill above Kočevje. It is the only trail that runs uphill and rewards you with fantastic view spots. Frederick connects to the macadam road.
- flow trail Veronika, with a redone upper half:
Length: 2.300 m
Elevation: 250 m
Difficulty: easy, suitable for beginners and children, as well as experiences cyclists
Flow trail Veronika is considered easy, but also includes some faster sections that will satisfy even the most demanding riders. The trail was named after Veronika of Desenice, who lived at the Friedrichstein Castle with Frederick II, the Count of Celje.
- Home Again (Spet doma), which is connected to Veronika and was recently extended by 200 m:

Difficulty: moderate
The trail Home Again is shorter, but with all the elements included offers a lot of fun. When descending, various obstacles are awaiting - serpentines, turns, and bumps. Visit the trail Home Again while you're waiting for the next shuttle.
- Squamish
Length: 1.600 m
Elevation: 200 m
Difficulty: very hard
Various heavier elements intertwine along the Squamish Trail, from wooden ladders to various stone sections. It was named after the town of Squamish in British Columbia, Canada.
- Livoldska:
Length: 2.300 m
Elevation: 230 m
Difficulty: very hard
Trail Livoldska was one of the first trails built in the MTB Trail Center Kočevje. Its main feature is the steep slope, which makes it one of the most technically demanding trails.
- Pod zajlo:
Length: 450 m
Elevation:100 m
Difficulty: hard
A short but rather steep trail without difficult technical elements branches off from Veronika and ends before the Skill park. Nevertheless, due to the slope, it is classified as a difficult trail. The trail runs in the area where the ski lift for the former ski resort once stood. Hence the name of the trail.
- Gully was turned into a more difficult trail:
Length: 850 m
Elevation: 200 m
Difficulty: hard
Gully was one of the first trails built at the foot of the hill. The entire trail runs along the gullies, which is how the trail got its name.
- In the Dragon's Nest:
The starting trail for all cyclists connects the MTB trail center Kočevje with the entire hill and was named after a hidden natural wooden sculpture of a dragon. Have you spotted it already?
- Angry bee:
Length: 1.500 m
Elevation: 200 m
Difficulty: hard
The Angry Bee Trail runs from the road below Fridrihštajn to the road at the top of the ski slope in Dolga vas. The route contains several technical elements and some moderately demanding elements, which is why it has a red difficulty mark. Most of the path runs transversely, and in one part it also winds along the slope and has a suitable slope to prevent erosion. The line was entirely built by hand, and its construction was co-financed by the Municipality of Kočevje.
- Fridrihštajer'ca:
Length: 1.800 m
Elevation: 150 m
Difficulty: easy
Trail Fridrihštajer'ca is the newest flow trail at MTB Trail Center Kočevje and is suitable for beginners and experienced riders. It starts at the turn from the Dragon's Nest and ends on the forest road that leads to Kanal, Veronika and Squamish. It was named after the former castle Fridrihštajn, and a former guesthouse that was open in Dolga vas before the 2nd world war.
Various events are also organized within the center, such as Pofurajmo Kočevsko, XC Kočevje, and MTB camp.
