The sawmill started operating at the end of the 19th century as one of the largest wood processing plants in Slovenia. A forest railway was constructed to supply the Kočevski Rog to supply it. Although it has only been in operation for three decades, the remains of the sawmill along the road connecting Kočevje to Dolenjske Toplice are still impressive. It is also displayed in the museum space, which was arranged by the Slovenian Scouts together with the Regional Museum of Kočevje.
