Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista a Kočevska Reka
After the former Baroque church was demolished in the 1950s, a new sanctuary was built at the turn of the millennium as a symbolic justification of the state for the destruction of the sacral heritage of Kočevsko based on the building plan of the architect Janez Gomboc. The interior is a pleasing mix of old and new, and the warmth of the wood dominates. In addition to the baroque plastics and other furnishings from the old church, the shrine is marked primarily by works of academic sculptor Stane Jarm and stained glass by Mark Jerman.
