Deer Route
The circular cycling route takes you through the upper part of the Kolpa Valley and across all the municipalities of the Kočevsko destination.
The circular route will take you through the upper part of the Kolpa River Valley and the once closed-off area of Kočevska Reka, all the way to Štalcerji and then take you back to the Kolpa Valley along the main road Kočevje-Petrina. The 70 km long route winds through the areas of three municipalities of Kočevsko: Kostel, Osilnica and Kočevje. It offers countless beautiful views of the valley - from the the church of Sv. Joachim and Anna and the view from the eighth serpentine of the Strma Reber pass, and views of the Kostel Castle. This cycling route leads near the Krokar primeval forest, which is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, past the smaller airport for ultra-light aircrafts in Novi Lazi, and past many farms, where, by prior arrangement, you can refresh yourself with local delicacies. This route will test your physical fitness, as you climb the Strma Reber pass, and at the same time reward you with the countless beauties of Kočevsko.
